Following the successful launch of their wellness center in Austin, Texas, the founders of 4Healing — Sonu Patel and Yuneisa Perera — felt a deeper calling: to take their vision of holistic health beyond borders.

As women from different cultures (Sonu from India and Yuneisa from Cuba), both with a global perspective and a passion for healing, they dreamed of expanding internationally. Initially, they considered Costa Rica, but with no local network and logistical hurdles, the path felt uncertain. Then, unexpectedly, someone suggested the Dominican Republic — and something clicked.

Neither of them had ever been to the country, but Yuneisa remembered a longtime friend living there who worked in real estate. His response was immediate and encouraging: there was a real need for high-quality therapeutic massage services in the area. This insight led them to visit Las Terrenas, a vibrant coastal town on the Samaná Peninsula.

From the moment they arrived, they knew this place had potential. While the town offered many beauty and spa services, they noticed something missing:

For Yuneisa, the town also evoked a sense of familiarity. The atmosphere reminded her of Cuba, where she has owned and operated Yuma Massage for over a decade. That connection only deepened her belief that Las Terrenas was the right step.

Finding a space was a challenge. Rents were high, and commercial locations limited. But after persistent searching, they discovered a space with a breathtaking oceanfront view — the perfect home for their Caribbean expansion.
